DEAD POET’S SOCIETY

Although Robin Williams is known for his comedy, it’s this dramatic role that has me cheering. There have been many great movies about the lengths teachers will go to help their kids: “Dangerous Minds”, “Freedom Writers”, but this one, also starring Robert Sean Leonard (who is now on “House” and was in “Swing Kids”) and Ethan Hawke, is the most inspiring and heart-warming. Williams is an English teacher for a very conservative private boys’ school, but his teaching methods are far from conservative. He manages to open his boys’ eyes to the world around them, not have them buried in books alone, but his avant-garde techniques step on a lot of toes and end up in tragedy. Every actor delivers a solid, emotional performance, and you will forget that Robin Williams was ever a comedian.
