From the twisted, we go to the complicated: Love. Like horror movies, writers have figured out that it doesn’t take much to throw together a love story. Everyone knows they will be predictable, sappy and make audiences feel good despite being so poorly written. So many have come and gone that it’s easy to forget they ever existed. So for one to stand out, it needs to do something different, grab a killer cast, like Hugh Grant, Keira Knightly, Liam Neeson, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman and so many others, and take a different approach. “Love Actually” transcends typical love stories because finally a movie recognizes that love is not just about a relationship. Married couples, dating couples, friends, parents and children, siblings, everyone gets a bill in this movie, and it means that not only is a love story actually a bit more realistic, it also touches everyone. And here’s the clincher, there isn’t always a happy ending! I get goose bumps every time I see it.
