There is certainly no lack of blood and gore in the “Saw” series, but unlike “Hostel” that tries to cop out on storyline and capitalize on the gore content alone, “Saw” is also clever and keeps you guessing, something rare in any horror movie these days. The first one shocked viewers everywhere, with a twist at the end that no one could predict, so by the time the second came out, we all thought it would be a walk in the park to figure it out. Wrong. The writers cleverly threw in another twist that again had audiences gaping by the end. But could they really shock us a third time? Yes, and a fourth and surprisingly even a fifth. I really thought that since Jigsaw is finally dead (don’t worry no spoiler there) by the fifth movie that it would start getting ridiculous as we’ve seen so many series become, but the fifth was just as entertaining and twisted as the first. I love this series – it gives you everything you need to satisfy the violent, gruesome beast within, without dragging on and losing quality.
